Location
St Arnaud, located in central Victoria, is a vibrant town with a population of approximately 3000. The town is located just over an hours' drive (110km) from Bendigo, an hour and a half (133km) from Ballarat, an hour (100km) from Horsham and three hours (240km) from Melbourne. Its location means that residents can enjoy the relaxed lifestyle of a small country town, yet still have ready access to the services of major regional centres.
V/Line operates three services daily between St Arnaud and Melbourne, incorporating daily buses to and from Bendigo, Ballarat, Mildura, Horsham and Adelaide.
The township
St Arnaud is surrounded by the bushland of the St Arnaud Range National Park. It is home to a number of parks and gardens, including the Queen Mary Gardens.The town is noted for its historic streetscape of old pubs, shops and ornate verandahs, which are testament to its mining heritage. The St Arnaud township supports a large agriculture industry. Along with more traditional broadacre cropping and sheep production, the town is the base for Rainbow Valley Turkeys, a large scale
turkey production and export operation, as well as a major site for pig producer QAF Meat Industries. It is also the home of Goldacres spraying equipment and RK Macey silos.
Ridley Agriproducts operates a stockfeed mill in the town.
St Arnaud also has a wide range of other industries and businesses outside of agriculture. Local businesses thrive in the town, enjoying the strong support of the St Arnaud community.
